If you are a Mopar fan, and you think a fullsize wagon would be a great family machine, then this Chrysler Town and Country is just what the doctor ordered. Before the Town and Country was a minivan, it was a full-size wagon and a good one for sure. In fact, this wagon had some special features that some of you new truck folks think are a new invention. I’m talking about tailgates that work in multiple directions. That’s not new. They existed decades ago as evidence by the tailgate here that works in two directions.

Video Description:

It may have been thirsty for gas but this 440 big block powered Town & Country was the perfect machine for growing American families on the move. Watch and wonder as Steve examines it’s novel “dual action” tailgate.

Talk about a survivor! This Mopar is an awesome score and Chad is going to tell you all about it in the video below. But read the story below as well and if this needs to be yours you can contact them through the numbers below.

Video Description:

This isn’t my car, this actually belongs to a buddy of mine. I was out on the road last weekend and stopped in to see what he had found lately, and THIS was sitting there!!!! If you’re interested in this one, you can call my buddy Tom at 620-231-2277 or you can always call me and I can get you in touch with him!!!!

When was the last time you saw an E-body Mopar that had NOT been messed with!!!! My buddy actually just bought this car from the ORIGINAL owner!!! The only thing that has even been changed on this car was that at some point, the exhaust manifolds were swapped out for headers, but the exhaust manifolds are still in the trunk of the car!!!

This car does currently run and drive. It has been sitting for a while, so it isn’t ready to take off on a road trip, but you can drive it!! It has a 318 in it with an automatic on the floor and it even has a factory rallye dash! Pretty much everything on this car is just the way it left the factory. Paint, interior, drivetrain, all original pieces. This car has been sitting for several years and it would need restored to be nice again, but when was the last time you saw an original car that has not been messed with?!?!?!?!?

This thing was WAY to cool to not share with everyone, so I did this quick video on it even though it isn’t in my inventory!

If you like old cars, trucks, and automobilia, be sure to check out all of my other videos! Please subscribe so you can keep up with the new videos as I post them!

If you have questions about vehicles or parts, the only way to get a hold of me is to call me, 8 AM-8 PM CST, no texts, no e-mails, no messenger, no smoke signals, calls only. If I don’t answer, I’m probably on the phone with someone else and if you don’t leave me a message, I just assume you’re another telemarketer trying to sell me an extended warranty! LOL!

If you comment, message, text, e-mail, etc., don’t expect me to find it and don’t expect an answer. Thanks for watching, Chad 620-786-4428

How long has it been since you put a model kit together? We’re talking paint, cement, the whole nine yards. My last one I built in 2017, the MPC “Fuzz Duster” 1980 Plymouth Volaré Road Runner kit. I laid down a color close to Sherwood Green, cut out the T-tops, left the interior white, and did my best with the chrome detailing work. After hitting up a hobby shop for a set of Ansen-style slot mags, the project was done. Recently, however, my wife found a hobby shop that specializes in collectible model kits and other automotive toy items, like 1:18-scale models and dealership models, and I’ve found myself with the itch to put another kit together. But what kit should that be? The last time I really went model shopping, the cars I really want to build (the “Force 440” Monaco, 1974-77 Camaro, 1970 Pontiac Bonneville “pickup) cost coin and are as common as a diamond in my back yard.

MPC, through Round 2, are bringing back some classics, my “Fuzz Duster” being one of them. In this video, you’ll see another: the 1977 Dodge Warlock. Based on the W100 stepside and packing anything from the E58 360 through the last of the 440s, the Warlock was part of Dodge’s eye-raisingly named “Adult Toys” line of factory-custom vehicles. Basically, it was a four-wheel-drive L’il Red Truck, but with engine options, a few more colors, and no exhaust stacks. What’s not to like?

From opening the box until the truck is completely finished, follow along. I’m not responsible if you smell like Testors within a few days. That’s all on you.

Yes, wild and hairy cars were built between 1964 and roughly 1972. Wild colors, nuclear option engine choices, exhaust notes that could make the dead perk up and take notice…they existed. You can argue who was faster or whatever until the cows come home, but there is no denying that Chrysler had a lock on the wild and psychotic looks for the last few years of the era. You know what we’re talking about: the eye-searing colors, the cartoon characters, the inability to hide in traffic vibes. If you don’t understand what we’re talking about, just imagine a 1971 Plymouth GTX painted Sassy Grass Green driving through your town’s normal traffic and imagine how blatantly it would stand out. Got it?

Now, those machines exist, but they were not the everyday items. Cars like this 1970 Dodge Cornet sedan were. If you look only at the nose or only at the tail, you can see Dodge Super Bee. But then you see four doors and a majority of people immediately stop, feel nauseous, and walk away. Myself, I’d immediately want to build a phantom four-door Super Bee, attitude, big-block and all. But for Dylan McCool, this Slant Six-powered, three-on-the-tree B-body is inspiring a different vision. But until that car gets a fuel tank that doesn’t tear apart like you were ripping apart notebook paper, it ain’t doing squat. Click on the video below to see this old sedan get back on its feet.

If there is a cleaner example of a 1975-1979 Mopar B-body than Jim Rief’s 1977 Dodge Charger SE, then it is socked away in a corner of a museum that is owned by Stellantis that nobody is allowed to visit. And I promise you that it isn’t half as interesting. Ever since last year’s MCACN show, when my inboxes started to blow up, Rief’s Charger has been the ultimate form of what you could do with the Cordoba-clone. I met with Jim at the World of Wheels show in Louisville earlier this month and got to spend some time chatting with him about his car. Short story: he’s had the Charger since 1981, it was originally built as a drag car before turning into a show car, the underside is as spotless as the surface and interior are, and he’s been stashing parts away since about the time I was tottering around in Pampers while trying to sing along to Sesame Street.

I am taking nothing away from Jim’s Charger. The paint is gorgeous, the plating spot-on, the interior looks better than any factory photo could have promised, and if you’ve ever seen the video of this car idling around, it sounds like a freaking beast (lucky me, I can’t find the clip or I would share it.) But when you have a car as clean inside and out, as detailed and done as Jim’s Charger is…does that remove the ability to enjoy it as a car? I’d be scared shitless to drive his car anywhere other than to and from the trailer at an indoor show and maybe at a prestigious car show. On the street? Aw, hell no. I wouldn’t know what would scare me more: the drivers who aren’t paying attention to the roads or the drivers who are paying way too much attention to my car.

“How clean is too clean?” I ask this question after I’ve cleaned up another 20 pounds of ATF-soaked kitty litter up off of my garage thanks to my own Charger, hopefully for the last time (I’ve said that before). The car is on jackstands. Major components are blown apart and I’m about to break out a death wheel and start cutting. I’m pricing out suspension parts. I’m doing projects I haven’t done before, which always puts my stomach into a knot, and I’m doing all of this so I can put thousands of miles on the clock this year. Admittedly, the Charger is cleaner underneath than most anything I’ve owned prior to that was older than 1990. That doesn’t mean that I don’t look like a 1940s grease monkey when I’m done for the day.  And yes, the clearcoat peel my car is suffering on the hood is still driving me up the wall.

Would I like my car to be as clean as Jim’s, though? I don’t know. I can’t leave the car sitting long. I drive it as often as I can get away with it. The only time I actively don’t take the car out is when it’s a local trip and there is rain in the forecast…not mist, not a small chance of a quick shower, but legitimate rain. Even that isn’t a dealbreaker, as the car was left out in the hotel parking lot during a storm last year during my Carlisle trip. Oh well, that’s the breaks for insisting on driving the car. And that’s why I’m not 100% concerned about being as nice as Jim’s car. I’d love the interior. I’d love the paint quality to be up to that level. And a big-block with an attitude issue and a fat, lumpy exhaust note works just fine. But for now, I can survive with a few rock chips and a slightly grimy underside if it means I can hit the road whenever I want.

Tommy Lee Byrd is back at it, with another great Hot Rod Hoarder video and we can’t thank him enough. This is a rad video, with tons of incredibly sexy and bitchin rides. We’re going to let Tommy give you the rundown in the video and in the writeup below. Enjoy!

Video Description:

Factory drag cars are fascinating because of the rarity and extremely high value, but also for the WILD combinations that the big 3 manufacturers (General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Corporation) threw at these race cars. All of them were built to meet the homologation requirements set by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) for inclusion in Stock Eliminator categories.

Recently, the Savoy Automobile Museum in Cartersville, Georgia put together a Factory Drag Cars exhibit, assembling nine amazing cars to represent what the Big Three brought to the table from 1963 through 1968. By no means does this cover ALL of the factory drag cars in existence, but it does hit the high points, and also covers a couple of outlying muscle cars. Here’s a list of the cars you’ll see in this video:

1963 Chevrolet Impala Z11 – Production Numbers: 50 – 427ci – Wally Bell’s New York Shaker

1963 Pontiac Catalina “Swiss Cheese” – Production Numbers: 14 – 421ci – Arnie Beswick

1964 Ford Fairlane “Thunderbolt” – Production Numbers: 100 – 427ci – Steve Honnell, original owner

1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Lightweight – Production Numbers: 50 – 427ci – Larry Davis

1965 Plymouth Belvedere A990 – Production Numbers: 101 – 426ci – Steve Atwell

1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS Z16 – Production Numbers: 201 – 396ci – Technically not a factory drag car

1965 Chevrolet Chevelle 300 COPO – Production Numbers: 1 – Also not a drag car, but special ordered with 396/425hp, M22 Muncie 4 speed and 4.88:1 gears

1967 Mercury Comet Cyclone – Production Numbers: 60 – 427ci – Steve Honnell, original owner

1968 Dodge Dart LO23 “Hemi Dart” – Production Numbers: 80 – 426ci – Mr. 4 Speed, Herb McCandless

This display of Factory Drag Cars was awesome, and we were able to experience it on a “hoods up” weekend to get the full experience of these super rare cars.

Chad Ehrlich’s Nobody Else’s Auto is the go to spot for bitchin old iron, parts, and projects, and this one that he just got in is really something special. This 1938 Dodge appears to have been a gasser or gasser project at some point in the past and it now waiting for the next owner to give it some love. I think this thing would be rad to make run and drive without doing anything much to the exterior other than adding a bit more lettering and such. I think it would be fun. I’d put a high winding, blown, early Hemi in the thing and a stick and call it a day. Tell us what you’d do with it.

Video Description:

Someone had a plan for this old Dodge coupe at one point, but the plan never came together! This old coupe is rough and incomplete.

The “gasser dream” that someone had at one point is long gone.

But this old Dodge does still have some good pieces left on it or maybe someone out there has the same dream someone else has for this old coupe once upon a time! Regardless, the old coupe is here at the yard awaiting the next chapter!

Let’s go check out this old coupe! Just give me a call if you have any questions about this old Dodge or any of the other approx. 2,000 cars and trucks I currently have in stock!!!

Factory race cars are some of the coolest cars on the planet, and this one here is so unique as to be a unicorn. Or a Holy Grail as Tommy Lee Byrd calls it. There is some seriously cool history here and this car is something special. Watch the video and let Tommy tell the story. Cause it is awesome.

Video Description:

Nothing is cooler than a factory drag car and this 1963 Dodge 330 lightweight is the holy grail. Detroit poured a lot of effort into drag racing during the 1960’s, when NHRA Super Stock was at its peak. Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Chrysler had various factory prepared race cars, but Dodge dominated the Super Stock ranks with its Max Wedge cars, especially those with lightweight body panels. Only 34 Dodges were built with aluminum front fenders, bumper, hood and hood scoop, and this is the first one built.

This Dodge lightweight was ordered by Wain Pearce from King Dodge in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It ran locally at Minnesota Dragways, and also competed at the 1963 NHRA Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana. The car was listed for sale in 1965 for only $1700, and raced for many years after that. It once had a roll bar in it, but has now been restored to the 1963 configuration.

The car has an original 426ci Max Wedge engine with 13.5:1 compression ratio and dual four barrel carburetors. The transmission is a push button Torqueflite and the rear end is a 8-3/4. Stock steel wheels are wrapped in Goodyear front tires and piecrust slicks out back. The car has been sold several times since its restoration and now lives in Ohio. I had the chance to see it up close and personal at the 2023 Chattanooga Motorcar Festival.

Video Description

Mopar history doesn’t get much crazier than the Chrysler Ball Stud HEMI engine. This engine never made it to production, and only a handful of them were built for testing purposes only. It was narrower and lighter than the conventional 426ci Hemi, and it was set to become a common platform by 1972, consolidating several of Chrysler’s engines into this new and efficient design, which was nicknamed the Ball Stud Hemi. This name comes from the rocker arm design, which was unlike most Chrysler engines.

By 1972, the muscle car era was coming to a close, so the project stalled out. A few years later, Chrysler literally scrapped the entire project, including the test engines, with one exception. ONE complete engine remained and it was the subject of Mopar folklore for many years until it resurfaced under Dick Landy’s ownership. Then something crazy happened. Dick sold the engine to a fellow who obviously paid well for it and proceeded to disassemble it and basically change everything on it. The block was bored .030-over, the entire rotating assembly was modified or replaced, the intake manifold was modified to accept a Holley four-barrel instead of the Thermoquad, and cosmetic changes were also made to this HOLY GRAIL Hemi engine.

Some might agreed with the modifications, but it certainly hurts the originality of this ultimate piece of Mopar performance history. Another interesting twist is the the Ball Stud Hemi engine found a home in this rare 1969 Plymouth Barracuda, which was factory-built with a 440ci engine. It is one of the few surviving examples of an M-code Barracuda from 1969 and it’s even more peculiar because of the notchback body design, instead of the more popular fastback.

This car was sent directly to Sox & Martin for the Super Stock treatment, and was a raced in that configuration for a couple years before being sold off. It landed in several people’s hands including Mopar legend Tom Hoover for a while. Keep in mind that this car and the Ball Stud Hemi have NOTHING to do with each other until several years ago. The guy who modified the prototype engine installed it in this car. Then, it got passed around to a few people, before being donated to the National Auto and Truck Museum in Auburn, Indiana. What a wild creation, and an even wilder back story.
