Details are still pending on the Pro Stock Showdown test session which were scheduled for Thursday through Tuesday, but we are heading to Vegas in search of the latest scoop, interview, and NHRA Pro Stock action. The Strip at Las Vegas Motorspeedway will be making official announcements about the Pro Stock session on their website tomorrow at 10am. Pro Stock favorites Greg Anderson, Warren Johnson, Shane Gray, Jason Line, Greg Stanfield, Mike Edwards, Allen Johnson, and more will all be testing in preparation for the NHRA Winternationals February 24-27th, which means the big guns will be out. We’ll have video for you starting Monday February 21st from the Top Fuel and Funny Car test sessions in Palm Beach Florida, as well as action from the Pro Stock test session in Vegas.

It’ll take two seconds for you to figure out why people loved these cars and they became amazingly popular. The first pair of cars should sum it up nicely, as the awesome Mega-Ford and Christine square off at Kil-Kare Dragway. Today, the class has become so insanely competitive and hard core, the whimsy of these body styles is gone. So are the dry hops, which kind of sucks, but what remains is the wild-ass, sideways, unpredictable nature of jamming way too much power into way too short a wheelbase. That part never gets old.

Vial was making some test shots at Virginia Motorsports Park, trying to get his new race car ready for the ADRL Hardee’s Georgia Drags VI at SGMP this weekend. In case you thought you read the lead paragraph wrong, this car is both blown and nitrous injected. Now you see why we love the ADRL.

About those quotes, Vial told the ADRL’s Agent 660, “A lot of people gave me credit for doing a great driving job to save it, but I think it was just God took pity on me and set it back down.”

Ian Tocher, the Media Czar for the ADRL tipped us off to a mini-feature that they ran on their site about the car and it is full of great pics. The detail and thought process that goes into laying these cars out so everything is packaged in a sleek body, is still serviceable, and most importantly works, is beyond us. Seeing the car nekkid, with no body on it, is very neat and something that you normally don’t get to see when it comes to full-bodied door slammers.
