The Stanceworks Model A Ford is one scary beast and Mike has repeatedly said it is the scariest thing he’s ever driven. It’s also a fan favorite and one of the most obnoxious things you are ever going to see. But it is going to a new home, in preparation for another really big project, and that means he’s got to get it back up and running after having torn it apart to make things better and less scary. He did wad the thing up a bit on his first real drive in it, so it needed some tweaks.

I love this car, the fab work and the feel, as does everyone else that sees it. And as usual, Mike does things at a very nice level and with an eye for esthetics and function. We approve.

Video Description:

Once again, we’re BACK with the Model A, and honestly, I think this is one of my favorite episodes yet.

How many times have you seen a bitchin old Grandpa style pickup driving down the street and thought, man if that thing wasn’t brown and was slammed it would be awesome? Yeah, jillions of times. Which is why this Pro Touring OBS truck build is so awesome. There is nothing pretty about this truck, from the nasty late 1980’s paint colors to the stock stance and nasty wheels, there was nothing about this truck that said cool. Except the fact that it is an OBS Chevy and we all know they are awesome when you set them on the ground and make them perform.

Check out the beginnings of this pro touring project as it gets lower to the ground, way more capable around corners, and gets a set of wheels and tires that sets it all off and makes it look like the start of something cool.

Video Description:

In this video, we are diving in to Project OBS Brownie and we’re bringing the suspension up-to-speed with React’s 88-98 rear coilover 4 link and their React spindles up front – all supported by QA1 coilovers.

Early Mustangs are cool cars that hundreds of thousands of people still enjoy cruising on a weekly bases around the country. Like all old cars though they have their shortcomings, especially when it comes to the riding and driving aspects of their existence. Our pals at Borgeson know this and they know that the factory power steering on these cars is way over-boosted, and that many of the cars have worn out and sloppy original components still on them. This is why they developed a power steering upgrade kit for the 1965 and 1966 model year Mustangs that are so popular.

This kit is comprehensive. It comes with a new pump, lines, power steering box, steering coupler, and a steering column shaft as well. You are not just putting a bandaid on an old system, you are making a significant upgrade to your car and the results are immediate and positive. You’ll have a better steering ratio, better feedback through the wheel, and you will lose that creampuff, over-boosted feeling that doesn’t really fit the sports-minded attitude of the car.

The best part of this whole program is that the entire thing installs with hand tools and as you will see in this video, there is no rocket science involved with doing the work. No exotic tools, no need for heavy shop equipment, just time and elbow grease to upgrade your driver.

Borgeson as a company has been around for more than 100 years and they manufacture, right here in the USA the highest quality steering components for Ford, GM, and Chrysler cars and trucks. From replacement parts to upgrades to individual components, they have it all. We’re proud to have them as a partner here at BangShift and look forward to more steering related fun in the future!

When Dan dragged this nasty 1957 Chevy home there was no doubt that it was rough, and we mean ROUGH. So much rust, so much nastiness, and so much patching required. He did a lot of work using good patch panels from donor vehicles, but the floors in this thing were so bad that the only smart way to repair them was to do a complete one piece floor pan. It’s had a donor chassis put under it, modified for some tire, and more. This thing needs just about everything to be honest.

Check it out.

Video Description:

No surprises here…. The 70 year old chassis had totally worn out front suspension and brakes. The unfortunate reality of 2023, it’s cheaper to replace than rebuild.

This kit from Ebay includes tubular control arms, drop spindles and slotted front disc brakes. The factory stuff rides nicer but this kit was much much cheaper and faster.

What do you think? Money well spent?

Let’s face it, the Mustang II isn’t the coolest thing Ford ever built. And almost all the folks who love them only do because they were what they remember growing up, not because they were styling or performance icons. Don’t hate me for saying it, I’m not bagging on them, I’m just being truthful here. So when Dave chose to save this thing, and embrace it’s weird and ugly nature, we scratched our heads a bit but knew that he was going to get his mini-trucker or off-roader hat on to make it cool. He went mini-trucker and we can’t argue with the thought process. There are three videos below to show you the entire process to make this thing sit like a champ. We approve.

Video Description:

In an attempt to make one of the misfits of the car world cool I install custom air suspension to the front end. Watch the thought process, fabrication, and follow through.

It’s time to get the rear suspension of the mustang II done so that it lays on the ground just like the front does. David Feiburger invited me to the Duct Tape Drags and I can’t show up in something boring., So follow along as I cut out the old floor, build a rear subframe structure, and start figuring out how to 4 link and airbag this old unibody car.

It was time to make this Mustang II lay flat on the ground! Follow along as I design and fabricate a custom rear air bag suspension setup. This is very unconventional in form and has been controversial in the past and still is…. see if it works! Warning, I’m not and engineer, I am a backyard enthusiast. This is intended as a fun video that will show how to have fun and learn a few little fabrication tricks along the way.

Classic GM trucks are hotter these days than the nuclear reactor at Chernobyl was during the 1980s and one of the things more and more people are doing with them is improving not just straight line performance but handling as well. When you make a truck ride better, sit better, you also want it to steer better, right? Right. That’s why the team at Borgeson has developed their direct replacement Quick Ratio box for C10 trucks.

They offer them for earlier 1960s trucks and the most popular current generations from the 1967-1987 model year as well. This box takes the steering ratio from the slow 17:1 factory installed speed to a much more fun 12.7:1 ratio found in many GM performance cars over the years. It is a direct bolt-in replacement and one that any C10 owner should look into.

Not only will it make the truck more responsive and fun to drive, it will also get rid of a box that has undoubtedly worn over the 50 or so years your truck has been on the road. You can make your rig look like an old farm truck but don’t have it steer like one!

Check out the install of the box right here –

So here’s a little back story… When we started doing Holley’s Moparty event at Bowling Green Kentucky’s Beech Bend Raceway Park, an event that is happening this weekend as a matter of fact, it completed the trifecta of car events. Between LSFest, Moparty, and FordFest, we’ve got just about everyone covered with awesomeness. So when we started Moparty I said that I wanted to build a burnout car to run at LSFest, and then pull the engine out and swap in a Mopar for the burnout contest at Moparty, and then do the same thing for FordFest. Keep in mind that LSFest and Moparty are one week apart, and FordFest is two weeks later.

So everyone thought I was nuts, which is true. Except for Questionable Garage, who thought it was a great idea. But instead of doing just burnouts, he’s put together a 1970 Plymouth Duster that he’s going to compete in the Grand Champion Competition with. Grand Champion means you autocross, drag race, and also do the 3S Challenge which is like a drag race and an autocross had a baby.

The car made it to Holley’s LSFest last weekend and Monday it was supposed to get torn apart for the 7.0 stroker Gen 3 Hemi to go into it. We’ll keep you posted, but here are the first couple of videos of the build. We’ll have the rest coming as well!

Let’s face it, if you are into Mopars you are going to work harder, pay more, and have far fewer options than those of us who are into Chevrolets when it comes to parts for your performance muscle car. There is no place that this is more evident than in the suspension department. There are very few companies that offer badass pro touring suspension systems for them so if you want to go hardcore you need to really want it. And that is exactly the way I would describe David from Willomet Motor and Fabrication.

He doesn’t do anything halfway, which is how I came to know about him, because he’s got an insanely awesome square-body Suburban that makes my heart go pitter-patter. So when I saw this cool Charger project he was working on, I knew we needed to share it. I’ll have more of his other project videos coming too for you Suburban fans.

But for you pro-touring folks, and Mopar fans, check out the install of the Chris Alston Chassisworks Ultimate Pro-Touring Suspension and get a good look at this awesome project right here.

Video Description:

This day has been a long time coming. The pro-touring suspension for my 1970 Dodge Charger is here and it’s going on the car. Long ago, I selected the Ultimate Pro-Touring Front Suspension from Chris Alston’s Chassisworks, integrating their system in my own custom 4×2 tube chassis. Today, we bolt up that entire front system, and even make time to pop on a test tire (305/30R19) and a fender. It almost looks like a car.

There’s also a special challenge to all my fellow garage builders out there, so be sure to watch to the end and find out.

You want to install custom shocks on your car. Maybe you just want to make a simple change with a single adjustable tube shock or maybe you are going bigger with air suspension or perhaps multi-way adjustable coil-overs. The reality is that each one of these shock solutions needs to be measured a slightly different way to make sure you are getting exactly what you need and to make your car work the best. You cannot simply go on the measurements of old stuff or different shock styles to get it right.

The fun part is that this is an easy process to get correct and because of that, this Ridetech video on the proper procedure for completing the task is very straight ahead. They go through the different shock offerings and how to properly measure them for your car’s application. They also talk about the importance of making sure you get the shock measurements correct to insure the shock has enough stroke to carry your car through normal driving.

Like most everything else, this is not rocket science but it is a critical part of making sure your car goes down the road and around the corners the way you want it to!
