The Biggest Announcement In Drag And Drive History? Two Drag and Drives, One Week, One Set Of Tracks, And More Than $50k On The Line!

It’s out there folks, both the news and the idea are some of the biggest we’ve ever heard and we are super excited to be a part of it. Matt Frost announced yesterday that Rocky Mountain Race Week and Race Week will join forces in what some are calling the World Series of Drag and Drives in 2025. Both events are going to happen simultaneously at the same tracks on the same days and will culminate with a shootout that makes all the others pale in comparison. So how the hell is this going to work? How are you going to have two groups of racers at the track at the same time but racing in two different events? And can I be crazy and race in both? Don’t you worry, we got this.

Here’s an example, but just an example: Racers who enter Rocky Mountain Race Week will race in the morning at Tulsa Raceway Park and then head off to their next track. Race Week racers will come into the track in the afternoon and will race that night before heading to the hotel and then making the drive the next day to the next track. See? And each even will be run separately so that we have winners for each event and on the last day we will be separating all our quickest and all our index class cars, into classes and brackets to race for even more money than they have already been up for! That makes the total purse WAY more than $50,000!

We’re already hearing that the heavy hitters are ready to be there. Names like Cline, Larson, Barry, Lutz, and more. Who knows, maybe Tom Bailey will even make an appearance to see how he hangs with all these folks. It’s going to be nuts but it is going to be something special. In this age of giant car and truck shows it seems like there are folks who have forgotten just how it was to get to this point. And not only the size of events, but the things that are going on at them, the kinds of venues, and so much more. It is absolutely nuts how big some little shows have gotten. But it is also awesome to see some small and exclusive and cool events that still exist.

While we were in Tokyo Japan we were informed of an underground meet going on so we had to go check it out. So many insane cars from Bōsōzoku cars to a lineup of RWB Porsches, a Nissan GT-50 we didn’t even know what it was… it was a pretty epic night, we even ran into Larry Chen! Stick around for the cruise out of the garage at the end, our favorite part.

We’ve been sharing photos from the Lone Star Throwdown show in Conroe Texas for the past few days, and we’ve got plenty more to come. But we decided we wanted to share John Jackson’s video as well. In fact, several people have sent me screen shots as I am apparently in part of the video walking along looking at trucks. John runs Not Stock Photography and was on hand shooting features and a very fun video as well. This show is something special, you should check it out if you are at all into custom trucks.

Another Year of Car Shows is upon us, and no better place to start than Conroe Texas for LST 24. The Crowds were Huge, and the trucks were Huger(Wait is that a word?) Also we couldn’t have asked for better weather the temperatures where great, and not a cloud in the sky. The 1320Video Crew hit the Tokyo Auto Salon a few weeks ago and have been sharing all kinds of cool content from the show, but the entire time they have been commenting on and remarking about the caliber of cars and trucks that have blown their minds. Given the quality of the builds at this show, to make their Top 15 is something special and a glimpse into the minds of Kyle and Matt. We dig this show and I think we need to make it a priority to get there in 2025.

We’ve been sharing tons of Grand National Roadster Show photos, and have talked about the Suede Palace plenty of times, so Darr and I decided we’d walk through the entire Suede Palace building to give a tour of the cool cars and cool people in attendance. Along the way we randomly ran into some friends, talked hot rods and more, and just had a great time in general. If you like traditional hot rods, cool tail draggers, and old school customs, then the Suede Palace is your jam and we’ve got it all right here.

Well you are going to have to watch, because that isn’t the only weird part of the competition at Red Centre Nats.

Iron Trap Garage Goes On A Winter Trip To California For The Grand National Roadster Show In Pomona.

The Iron Trap boys decided to take a trip from cold Pennsylvania to warm and sunny California for the recent Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona and shared their adventures with us. One thing that makes the GNRS special is the fact that several hot rod and custom shops in the area have open houses and special events during the week of GNRS. Lucky for us, they decided to take us along in their latest video.

If you haven’t been to the Grand National before, it is a show like none other and because of the usually good weather, lots of folks come from all over the country, hell all over the world. Having lived in Southern California and attending GNRS many times, I sometimes forget that everyone hasn’t been there. This year I met several people who had never been before and it surprised me. But they all had a great time!
