We love miniature engines and have featured dozens of them over the years here at BangShift and each time we discover what we think is a new one we like to show it to you. Now we know that this engine is not brand new but the video is new to us, so understand that we’re not claiming that this thing was built a week ago but when we see a 6.3ci supercharged version of a small block Chevy that makes some 16hp we’re getting excited about it. The admiration we have for the builders of these engines extends pretty deeply because it calls on skills that are very refined. From scratch making stuff like cams and cranks, heads, and even blocks, this is not easy by any stretch.

Beyond the making of the engine parts, how about manufacturing a miniature supercharger?! Some of you are saying, “Well yeah, they just scale everything down,” and we get that buy most of these guys are whittling at this stuff on freaking manually controlled Bridgeport mills, not multi-axis CNC machines and stuff. The fact that they are challenging themselves to create these things is awesome to us and we hope that there are hundreds of guys around the country working on their own miniature engines right now.

We have no idea how many hours, days, weeks, or years went into this but it was all worth it in our book. Hobbies and passions are what truly drive people. Sitting on the couch, complaining about how the world is screwing you over, and chugging beer while eating Doritos isn’t improving your mind or your situation. The application of skill and knowledge to create stuff like this sets man apart from the animals and we’re damned happy that so many others are happy to share the fruits of their labor with the world!

Press play below to see and hear this miniature blown small block run!

I’ve been down the dragstrip in a variety of cars and trucks and all levels of performance, but I have zero desire to go down a dragstrip on a motorcycle. A scooter or something funny and slow? Sure! But I’m not climbing onto something fast and shooting my ass down the track. I like things with a roll cage.

With that said, when I saw this cool 1977 Kawasaki KZ for sale on Marketplace I thought hmmmmm. Someone might want this thing. I don’t, but someone might and so I figured we’d share it and see if any of you out there are looking for a new ride. It needs some love, but it’s all there, and I do have to say it is a sexy bike.

Here is the info from the seller: CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE ORIGINAL AD

OBO possible trades. No title but clean vin. Will provide bill of sale. Bike is a solid complete platform if you want to get into drag bikes. Needs work and parts like tires but the frame is solid, engine is good and most of the important stuff is already in place. Bodywork is in good shape, carbs are good. The parts on this are worth more than I’m asking, if it’s not in your range for price or ability to fix it then you don’t really need to get into racing in the first place.

Here’s another potential project for someone out there looking for a cool 1968 El Camino. I have always wanted to own an El Camino, after growing up with a 1965 El Camino and then going to high school with the Lincoln and Leonard Zapien who both had bad ass El Caminos, I’ve always wanted one that sat low and was big block powered. This one here is a plain jane model as far as performance goes, but it does have power brakes, steering, and air conditioning. It has not been molested at all, so you can be the first to hot rod the thing. Check it out in the video below and click the YouTube link to get Chad’s phone number to call about it.

Video Description:

I just recently picked this old El Camino up with a big load of cool old cars! This El Camino appears to be a pretty much untouched original car. The L door and fender do appear to have been replaced at some point, but the rest of the body looks original. There is some rust in the quarters, but overall, the car looks pretty good! The interior is intact. Someone built a custom console type piece that sits in front of part of the dash. The car even has a factory tilt column! Under the hood, everything looks untouched! Let’s go for a quick walk around this one and check it out! If you like old cars, trucks, and automobilia, be sure to check out all of my other videos! Please subscribe so you can keep up with the new videos as I post them!

It’s always neat to hear people’s stories of finding parts here and there, working over time to gather everything they need to complete an engine build, a restoration, or another project of some kind. Rare is the day on a quest like that where you are able to find the majority of the stuff you need in one place and grab it all in one shot. Well, if you are looking to build a Max Wedge engine, you better take a look below, oh and maybe have a paper bag to breath into as well. Why? Because there is a dude selling heads, valve covers, and even a cross ram with the carbs AND linkage! You need to build a short block and then stuff all these parts on top and voila, you are the mayor of Wedgeville.

These are proper 1962 model year heads and they were used both in 1962 and 1963. The same exact heads were used even though the engine was expanded from 413ci to 426ci that following year. The heat passage was removed from these heads as opposed to “normal” heads, the valves 2.08/1.88 were way larger than the passenger car heads, and the valve springs were beefed to handle the weight of the valves and the increased RPM potential. Long story short, these things were about the baddest cylinder head ever stuffed onto a factory V8 at that time.

If you are building a classic Mopar and want that classic Mopar look and performance…here it is.

eBay: This complete collection of Max Wedge parts is the easiest way to build your own!

History is a funny thing and it is all about perspective. If you were to tell 1960s hot rodders what would be available from the factory today in terms of raw performance they’d buy a ticket on the next time machine ride. From Hellephant crate engines to the incredible cylinder head options out there, it would be a wondrous thing for them to see. That said, we look backward and revel what these guys could buy over the counter from their local dealer. Stuff like the intake manifold below which is a factory designed and made dual quad tunnel ram for FE engines.

This particular intake will bolt onto any FE engine unlike the tunnel port stuff which needed the special heads to fit. This one uses medium riser style ports so if you have a hankering for all this goodness on top of your FE, bolt away. In reading a load of posts on Ford boards, this sucker will apparently fit under the hood of most period cars as well.

Is it overkill? Yes. Will it be more eye-candy than legit performance upgrade for many engines? Probably. Do we still want it? Hell yes.

Oh sure, the Merlin may be more sexy in a few ways but we’ll always hav the Allison V-1710 in our hearts as the workhorse V-style piston engine of WWII. These engines were found in a load of different aircraft and by all account did everything they were asked very well and as reliably as one could expect in the heat of battle. There were so many of these things made that after the war they were sold for peanuts out of war surplus yards and by dealers. Famously guys like Art and Walter Arfons, EJ Potter, Lee Pendleton, and others got to using them for racing engines and in pulling tractors. They were hot rodded in racing airplanes, used to set water speed records, and the list goes on and on.

This particular engine is awesome because it has been totally rebuilt and has 0-hours on said rebuild. For all intents and purposes, you are looking at a brand new engine. Now, that being said…The maintenance tag that is shown in the ad seems to indicate that this particular unit went into service in 1943, was rebuilt with 360 hours on it and then weirdly again with 362 hours on it and lastly it was stamped in February of 1944 where it was serviced again with nearly 500 hours on it.

Who wants one of these? Well, vintage hydroplane racers, tractor pullers still use them to some degree, and anyone who loves engines would enjoy owning this amazing, supercharged, piece of high horsepower war-fighting history. At $37,500 and with the capability of being turbocharged and making some huge by large power, it actually makes some financial sense when stacked up next to the cost of a blown, billet hemi or similar engine.

What a neat piece!

Chrysler’s B-body intermediates started life as the be-all, d0-all platform for the company. About the only thing that wasn’t put on the 1962-1979 chassis was a truck-based vehicle. Wagons, sedans, coupes, and hardtops of all types would be produced with more-or-less the same underpinnings, from basic Satellite sedans to the almost unrealistic Wing Cars, to one of the most respected and feared police cruisers to ever be put out onto patrol. Most of the light shines on anything made before 1974 to most people, but as you know I’m a fan of the oddball Malaise years, especially the coupes. There were three flavors of coupe sold in those years: the “Cordoba” body that my 1976 Charger shares, the “Coronet” body that underpins the Charger Sport, Fury Sport, 1975-0nly Road Runner, and Monaco, and this beauty, the Magnum.

The Magnum really exists for one reason: Chrysler knew that the biggest star power in their corner was Richard Petty, and Richard Petty had a problem. The 1975 Charger’s flat, blocky nose did it no favors in NASCAR, and Petty’s extension to use his 1974-bodied Charger was just about up. The Magnum was a stop-gap, with it’s smoothed over headlights and slightly raked nose. The huge Cord-inspired grille should’ve helped with cooling, too. On the street, the Magnum fixed the biggest wrong with the Charger (you know, not making it look exactly like the Cordoba) but on the tracks, The King wasn’t so impressed.

But this 1978 T-top Magnum isn’t for the circle tracks. This is something else…something wicked for the street, something with attitude, something that seems perfect for some Rocky Mountain Race Week action. Who gives a damn if it isn’t top of the class? Run the number at the track, then put the street tires on, pop the tops off and go hit the open road. The only thing stopping you is the lack of a GearVendors unit for the built TorqueFlite. Seems like a worthy upgrade, right?

When it comes to fantasy engines that we’d love to own, a legit Ford 427 high-riser is on the short list. They are bad ass and most people claim that with the proper carb tuning and camshaft they were making 550hp + back in the 1960s on drag strips and circle tracks around the country. They were not designed to be street engines and the expected power band area was in the 5-7,000 RPM zone which is strong today but was heady stuff back in the 1960s. A factory engine, kinda, it bears some explaining as to what these actually were.

High riser heads are factory parts insomuch as they were made and sold by Ford but they were never installed on factory mass produced cars. These were race car heads, plain and simple and they carried a factory part number because they had to for racing in the series and classes that they were designed to be used in.

The heads were so named because they carried the tallest intake ports of any FE heads. The dimensions of the intake ports are 2.72 x 1.34″. The heads also contained larger valves measuring 2.195 and 1.73″ respectively. They were obviously there to handle the increased air volume from the larger ports. Because of the head design a unique intake manifold was needed. No factory intake fits high riser heads except for the dedicated high riser pieces developed specifically for them. The idea in stretching the port and making the intake taller was to get a better entry angle for air and fuel into the combustion chamber.

And yes, this sucker will set you back some $4,500 if you pay the asking price but let’s be honest, where else do you plan on finding one in literally as new condition from about 60 years ago!?

I’ve been keeping an eye out for an old funny car body to put up in my shop, and so I also sometimes find complete or project funny cars that are for sale. This one here is a project that is in need of some love but that is in pretty good shape. Other than a couple of helmet bars that need to be added to the cage, it could be certified and ready to run as a nostalgia funny car and we approve. It’s setup for a big block Dodge, which is weird since it needs a Hemi to be right, but we won’t judge you for whatever you put in it.

This car was built to be a backup and then never ever finished. It has “old” parts on it that have never actually been used. The brake system never had fluid put in it even. Check out the description below and let us know what you think.

Chassis was built by Frank Castellano in 1980 for Steve Group NHRA Driver and to the best of his knowledge, the car was a backup car for Steve and not ever finished or raced. This was confirmed by the brake system never having any fluid in any of the lines. Multiple new parts have been installed: New front tires, I have a new brake master cylinder, rear end completely went through and has a 3rd member in it but no axles, all new heim joints on all the suspension and more, several spare rear brake parts and new Dodge Big Block Dodge Funny car headers, still in the box. Chassis was inspected, but not certified, it needs an extra set of helmet bars. Chassis was sand blasted down and properly repainted. Body is a 1984 Dodge Daytona and will need repair but is repairable and fit to the chassis.
