I grew up with Stock and Super Stock drag cars and think that those two classes are some of the best ever in drag racing, but my ultimate favorite is Pro Stock. I got my Pro Stock license 20 years ago in a Lenco equipped Pro Stocker that was everything I ever hoped it would be and can tell you that the history of Pro Stock is as awesome as they come. Some of the biggest names in door car drag racing came from the Pro Stock world and that includes the old greats like Dyno Don Nicholson, Socks and Martin, Grumpy Jenkins, and so many more.

In this video from Evan Smith you are going to get to see a great historic ride from the early days of Pro Stock. We’re talking about a bad ass little Maverick that is arguably one of the coolest Fords ever. Check it out.

This one is going to be fun, not only because it is a cool car that Dennis and Deb put together years ago, but also because when Dennis and Alex started tearing into it to find out what the problems had been with it years and years ago, it turned out to not be a big deal at all. I mean at all at all. So Alex gave her dad a bunch of crap for parking this thing and leaving it, and now he’s all fired up to get this thing back into racing shape. But what kind of changes do you think Dennis will make to it this time?

When Derek Bieri finds a great ride he’s never one to hesitate in making it his. But usually they are cars that have been sitting forever and that need some love to run and drive again. This time the 1967 Ford Fairlane in question needed an actual engine and transmission before it could make the drive home. Lucky for him this thing was near Tony Angelo’s place in Pennsylvania so he got it to Tony’s and then the two of them thrashed to get it together and ready for the drive. But not before it had to make some drag strip passes, and not before they broke it first.

This 1967 Ford Fairlane was bought sight unseen after sitting for 40 years. This is a legendary street/strip car from Pottstown PA. We stuffed a small block ford and 5 speed manual in it. A guys going to take a few laps at the local drag strip, then attempt to drive it 900 miles home back to Tennessee.

I remember when the sleeper first started to become popular, and always wanted something fast and fun and simple that fit the sleeper bill. Seeing cars like this in the pages of Hot Rod, Car Craft, and Popular Hot Rodding got me fired up for something evil that looked like a stocker from afar. I even built my 1969 Camaro Convertible with big and little rally wheels so that it would have the look. The nasty cam in the small block made it hard to convince some folks, but the iron headed small block with and iron intake and QuadraJet certainly helped. It would be be 20 more years before I had a sleeper that was actually fitting of the name, but they sure are cool.

I’ve got plans for another one of my cars to carry on the sleeper legacy this year, but when I saw this 1971 Nova it made me smile. I mean look at this thing! Slapper bars, steelies, flat hood and more. Wow. Check out the full feature video below and let us know what you think of this beast.

Street Freak – Part 1: This New Street Race Project Out Of Sweden Is Nuts! Twin Turbo Lambo Powered, Mid Engine, 25.2 Drag And Drive Greatness!

Okay folks, this one is going to be something special. And it takes someone special to want to build something like this but we love Peter Bjorck for it! We’re not going to tell you what body this car is going to have on it, until you learn in the first video with us, but man this is going to be a bit of a sleeper. Sort of. The plan is for this to be a 25.2 SFI certified chassis that is all-wheel drive and powered by a Lamborghini V10 with twin turbos. We already know these are capable of crazy power and that means that in this lightweight car it really should be something special on the streets. I say streets because this car is specifically being put together to have a license plate and be driven to and from wherever he wants to take it. I can tell you that nothing would be cooler than for him to get this thing together and then bring it over for Rocky Mountain Race Week one year.

Dude.

1965 is my favorite year for what I call “small Chevelles” and because I grew up with a 1965 El Camino, this little beast right here tugs at the old heart strings. And because I grew up in a family with a stick shift drag car, and drive a stick car everyday, the fact that this little plain white wrapper Chevelle has a dogbox trans in it makes it even cooler. With the dogbox and the high winding small block you can shift this thing without lifting thanks to the vertigate shifter. It really does harken back to the days of my youth, so I love this plain vanilla hot rod.

In this feature video you’ll get to see why this thing really is something special even though it is super simple. I dig it.

The McCarthy family is known for building fast cars and driving the hell out of them! Always leaning towards old school, raw & sleeper builds this one has been a while in the making. Mason started building this car when he was 15 years old and built a true badass sleeper. 355 ci making around 500HP, straight cut gears on the vertical gate “no lift shift” dog box trans and all manual with no amenities whatsoever. This is a pure drivers car and not only can Mason build but he can DRIVE so sit back and enjoy the ride.

FACTORY DRAG CARS Exposed! The Hot Rod Hoarder Finds The Holy Grail from GM, Ford and Mopar.

Tommy Lee Byrd is back at it, with another great Hot Rod Hoarder video and we can’t thank him enough. This is a rad video, with tons of incredibly sexy and bitchin rides. We’re going to let Tommy give you the rundown in the video and in the writeup below. Enjoy!

Factory drag cars are fascinating because of the rarity and extremely high value, but also for the WILD combinations that the big 3 manufacturers (General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Corporation) threw at these race cars. All of them were built to meet the homologation requirements set by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) for inclusion in Stock Eliminator categories.

Recently, the Savoy Automobile Museum in Cartersville, Georgia put together a Factory Drag Cars exhibit, assembling nine amazing cars to represent what the Big Three brought to the table from 1963 through 1968. By no means does this cover ALL of the factory drag cars in existence, but it does hit the high points, and also covers a couple of outlying muscle cars. This display of Factory Drag Cars was awesome, and we were able to experience it on a “hoods up” weekend to get the full experience of these super rare cars.

If you know Australian Drag and Drive racing then you have seen this car before. This is the Jekyl and Hyde Commodore, and despite looking like your average family sedan from across the parking lot, this thing is a beast that makes stupid power, runs incredibly quick, drives cross country with no issues, and looks as clean as can be inside, outside, and underneath. This is one bad street car, regardless of the continent, but it might be Australia’s ultimate Drag and Drive machine.

Red Center Nats is a new event for us and one that definitely did not disappoint. We saw so many cool cars we don’t get here in the US and this Commodore owned by Jekyl and Hyde definitely caught our eye, with an engine bay cleaner than most show cars we knew this thing was ready to throw down!
