I grew up with Stock and Super Stock drag cars and think that those two classes are some of the best ever in drag racing, but my ultimate favorite is Pro Stock. I got my Pro Stock license 20 years ago in a Lenco equipped Pro Stocker that was everything I ever hoped it would be and can tell you that the history of Pro Stock is as awesome as they come. Some of the biggest names in door car drag racing came from the Pro Stock world and that includes the old greats like Dyno Don Nicholson, Socks and Martin, Grumpy Jenkins, and so many more.

In this video from Evan Smith you are going to get to see a great historic ride from the early days of Pro Stock. We’re talking about a bad ass little Maverick that is arguably one of the coolest Fords ever. Check it out.

Video Description:

Up close with the actual “Dyno” Don Nicholson Ford Maverick raced in Pro Stock during the 1970 and 1971 seasons. This car has a Ford “Cammer” 427 engine with so many trick parts. Please be sure to support us by subscribing to the channel.

Whenever I hear people talking about how hard it is to find C10s, Squarebodies, and OBS trucks, it makes me shake my head because they are out there and plentiful. You have to remember, GM built millions and millions of each of these generations of GM trucks. That means that there are still jillions of them available for sale at every single level. So while it seems unlikely to find one in the kind of shape that Finnegan has found here, they are out there. So what’s it like driving a completely stock 1998 OBS GMC pickup cross country in 2024? Probably the same as it was when it was new.

Let’s see.

Video Description:

Episode 289 of Mike Finnegan’s Garage is a banger! I’m introducing a new project, exploring a spooky warehouse full of cool equipment while trying not to get killed, and driving cross country in a 26 year old truck. This was all made possible by the good people at Bling Sauce and its Platinum line of automotive detailing products. Bling Sauce is so excited about this project that the first 500 viewers who click here and use the promo code “FREEMIKE” will receive a sample pack of Leather Sauce, Secret Sauce and Trim Sauce: https://blingsauce.com/collections/au…

Can you believe that 1965 was the first year for coil springs in the rear of a Ford car? With so many others coming before them from the other makes, it seems weird, but the 1965 Ford Country Sedan was a truly special car in that it featured all kinds of firsts for Ford. Steve Magnante is back with all his video series going strong and we love him for it, so let me let him tell you all about it.

Video Description:

The 1965 Ford full size line was all new with a “torque box” frame and the first rear coil springs on a Ford. The wagons even included a trick aerodynamic gimmick to keep the tail gate glass clean. But why is there a turbocharger INSIDE this ’65 Country Sedan? Watch and be “blown away”.

Jay is always featuring cool cars, but for those of you who are into Ford’s Pony Cars, here you go. I’m a Chevrolet guy to the core, but I’ve always said that my favorite Mustangs are the 1967 and 1968 models and this one here is something special. It’s a 1968 Mustang GT 2+2 Fastback which would make it cool enough, but it is also a Cobra Jet car and it has some serious performance upgrades. In fact, it has been completely custom built by Revology to be as modern in performance and reliability as is possible, and with a fit and finish that would never have come from the factory in 1968.

This car is built from all new parts, at a much higher level of dimensional accuracy than anything that Ford built. And it has serious performance upgrades, like Wilwood Brakes, a supercharged Coyote crate engine, bigger wheels and tires, modern transmission, and so much more. This thing is built for fun and Jay puts it through its paces enough to know that this thing is a riot. And with over 700 horsepower on tap you can certainly have a lot of fun in this bad boy.

Let us know what you think as Jay gives us the full rundown.

Tommy Lee Byrd, the Hot Rod Hoarder, is always finding killer hot rods and race cars in barns, fields, shops and wrecking yards and here is another one. This Austin Healey is really something special, or at least it was decades ago. With nearly everything on this thing custom, someone clearly put a ton of work into it. We wonder what the history is though. Can you help find it out?

Video Description:

This thing is ONE of a KIND and it’s been sitting outside for many decades! Somebody, somewhere poured their heart and soul into making this Austin Healey 3000 roadster into a WILD hot rod. It’s a full custom hot rod build with Chrysler torsion bar suspension, an Oldsmobile 215ci Aluminum V8, home made headers, CUSTOM transmission, and all sorts of custom body work. The windshield is the back glass from a Tri Five Chevy with a custom round tube frame. It has 14 inch steel wheels…3 of them. What a crusty old car…but what a story it must have. Join me in studying its wild details and let’s hope we can find some information and history on this thing!

I love unique rides that have some style and this one here has it in spades. It might not be for everyone, but it sure is a bitchin hot rod that looks like it was built right. Unlike most anything you are going to see it starts off with a 1930’s cab and grill shell and that’s where the traditional ends. With custom rear quarters off a Plymouth, a custom bed was built that really evokes something special. Check out the finished product, along with a walkaround on how it all came together from the builder himself.

This is a really neat truck, and when you can get the rundown from the builder himself it really does make it special. Getting the inside info on how it went together, what parts were used, and the though process behind them, is inspiring and makes me smile.

One of the most incredible revelations from my career working at the gas station in high school was the day I was assisting the mechanic, Manny with a tune up on a 1980s era Astro Van. He told me to take the dog house off, pull the air cleaner and swap it for a fresh one and while I was in there make sure that the cab was not leaking. I dutifully removed the dog house, took the wing nut off the top of the air cleaner housing and was greeted with a site that knocked my socks off. This thing had a freaking Quadrajet on it! I never knew such a thing as a 4bbl 4.3L V6 existed in the realm of GM offerings.

In excited fashion I told Manny what he already knew that this thing had a 4bbl on it and he kind of laughed as the guy had been a customer getting his service done at the Shell station since the van was basically new. He yelled back in, “I know and the thing kind of screws for what it is…”.

He proved this theory after we did the tune up job and took the van for a test drive. The four speed automatic had nice short gearing to get the thing moving and from a stand still it would actually lay pretty decent posi-traction rubber! It was not a long ride but it was pretty fun.

Later on in life, I would spend loads of miles ripping all over the place in an all wheel drive, fuel injected version of the same van. One of the last years they built the things, these were weirdly fun to drive. They always had power and they had a really quick steering ratio. Combining that with the fact that you basically sat on the front tires aided in the entertainment value.

Weird how seeing things like this innocuous video can bring up memories like that!

I remember when the sleeper first started to become popular, and always wanted something fast and fun and simple that fit the sleeper bill. Seeing cars like this in the pages of Hot Rod, Car Craft, and Popular Hot Rodding got me fired up for something evil that looked like a stocker from afar. I even built my 1969 Camaro Convertible with big and little rally wheels so that it would have the look. The nasty cam in the small block made it hard to convince some folks, but the iron headed small block with and iron intake and QuadraJet certainly helped. It would be be 20 more years before I had a sleeper that was actually fitting of the name, but they sure are cool.

I’ve got plans for another one of my cars to carry on the sleeper legacy this year, but when I saw this 1971 Nova it made me smile. I mean look at this thing! Slapper bars, steelies, flat hood and more. Wow. Check out the full feature video below and let us know what you think of this beast.

Video Description:

I’ve wanted to build something like this car for a long time but I just never had the chance. I recently found out that someone I know wanted to put this up for sale. I had to immediately go check it out!

This is a project car that our friend Chad Ehrlich from Nobody Else’s Auto is highlighting this week and you need to check it out if you are a GTO fan. And I mean who isn’t a fan of a 1966 Pontiac GTO? A convertible no less, with documentation and everything. It’s a Barn Find that will make someone an awesome restored ride or hot rod and we know one of you out there has always been dreaming of one of these.

Here’s all the info from Chad, along with a video:

This isn’t my car, this actually belongs to a buddy of mine. I was out on the road last weekend and stopped in to see him. He’s always out looking for cool cars also, so I checked out a few things he had picked up recently and he had this really cool GTO sitting there!

If you’re interested in this one, you can call my buddy Tom at 620-231-2277 or you can always call me and I can get you in touch with him!!!! This car was stashed away for years in dry storage before he found it!

This is a roller with no motor or trans, but the rest of it is pretty much there. He does have the PHS documents on it and this was an original 4 speed car! This car will need a full restoration, but it is a pretty good car to start with and real, 242 GTO Convertibles don’t pop up everyday!

Let’s go check this one out!

If you like old cars, trucks, and automobilia, be sure to check out all of my other videos! Please subscribe so you can keep up with the new videos as I post them! If you have questions about vehicles or parts, the only way to get a hold of me is to call me, 8 AM-8 PM CST, no texts, no e-mails, no messenger, no smoke signals, calls only.

If I don’t answer, I’m probably on the phone with someone else and if you don’t leave me a message, I just assume you’re another telemarketer trying to sell me an extended warranty! LOL!

If you comment, message, text, e-mail, etc., don’t expect me to find it and don’t expect an answer. Thanks for watching, Chad 620-786-4428
